How does GoChinese work?
To help you visualize GoChinese, please view our 3½ minute introductory video.
Is my browser set up right?
You can
check whether your set-up is working properly through our ‘Setup test page’.
The login page says that I’m using a non-supported
browser. What can I do?
Currently, GoChinese operates with Internet Explorer or Firefox (supporting Mac
users). Just make sure that you are using a supported version of your browser.
[IE users] Internet
Explorer 6.0 or above
If you are
using a previous version of IE, please update your IE browser from: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie.
[Firefox users] Firefox
3.0
If you are
using a previous version of Firefox, please update your Firefox browser from: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
I am unable
to click on the folder tabs or select a lesson or exercise.
Most
likely, your Javascript is not enabled. Please see our ‘Setup test page’.
I am unable to view some of the Chinese characters.

I cannot hear any sound.
First, just make sure you have a sound card in your PC or notebook and that the
volume is turned on. Are the audio features from your other applications also
working? If so, you can check whether your set-up is working properly by going through
our ‘Setup test page’.
Also, did you use the ‘Back’ button? As with all
web-based services, your work is processed through servers. Pressing the ‘Back’
button on the upper left hand corner of your browser may bring you to a display
that has not been properly processed. Please use the GoChinese buttons when
navigating through this program.
I would like to input Chinese characters into GoChinese but do not have a
Chinese input program. What can I do?
GoChinese is compatible with any Chinese input method and Windows/Mac operating
systems provide Chinese input methods. Users can also paste Chinese text into
GoChinese.
[Windows users] Should you not have access to an
input program, GoChinese provides its users with a free download of Dianpin, a
leading Hanyu Pinyin input method. Please select the Dianpin icon to the lower
left corner in your ‘Personal Content’ section and download this program.
Random symbols (‘?’ or ‘’) are displayed within
the text submitted in the ‘Personal Content’ section.
You have either not selected the correct Traditional
or Simplified character form before clicking the ‘Submit’ button or submitted
text containing both character forms. Please select the correct character form
before submitting text in this section.
The copy function does not seem to be
working.
